EDGE LIGHTING PHOTOGRAPHY
The main source of light with this form of photography is coming right from the side, highlighting just the edge of the subject. I found this technique the easiest of the lighting components but it was just a matter of finding a light source that was hard enough to create the right lighting.
I only relied on the afternoon sunshine through the window for the second image of the boy which is why I think this is the least successful of the following images. The edge of his face is lit up but I feel as though it is not dark enough on the other side of his face and even the rest of the image.
My favourite is the second skull image as the left hand side is significantly darker than the right edge where the light source was coming from. The lighting coming directly from the edge and sort of shining through the thinner parts of the skull, turning the insides a peachy colour adds great personality to the skull as it makes it look quite creepy looking.
