SHADOWS
Shadow photography is where the shadow of the object being captured is the main focus of the image, sometimes taking up the entirety of the photograph. For shadow photography to be successful, the light source obviously needs to be very strong which is something that I struggled with whilst taking these images due to how there were few sunny days. However, I am happy with how a majority of these images turned out but they could always be better.
For example, my least favourite of the following five is the last one with the scissors pointed at the subject's head. I chose to do this concept because I thought I had the potential to be really effective but the actual shadow itself isn't sharp enough due the distancing between the light source, subject and the shadow on the wall. This is a similar problem with the first image below but I feel like that one is a bit better due to its simplicity and clear edges. With the scissor one, the arm above the subject's head can make it hard to interpret, similar to the third one of the girl going down the stairs whereas the first one is a lot clearer to see.
My favourite of the five is the rose on the red brick surface. The colouring of the background is different to the other four plainer ones so it stands out a lot more and the shadow is in very sharp detail compared to the others. The shadow in the top, centre image is also sharp but there is just too many other distractions with the subject in the foreground, even though it is blurred out. Also, the focusing sort of drifts down to the bottom left corner of the image rather than being focused solely on the shadow patterns.
